Anastasia celebrates her Christening

Anastasia was born on October 4th, 2010.  She is the latest addition to the Heskey family and has brought great joy to her family. Making her public debut at her December 19th Christening. There is something special about Anastasia, could it be the fact that her older sister had a dream about her mom's forthcoming pregnancy?

I had a wonderful time photographing the event, treating Anastasia's dress as a wedding gown.  I took some photographs of her dress, shoes, and other details.  The family portraits went smoothly using some off camera lighting  the mood was set to give Anastasia some photos to remember for the rest of her life.

What's on my mind

So, the end of the year is near and a new one is about to begin. This whole photography thinggy is pretty frustrating. I've had a couple of bookings for the next year but I want more shoots.  There is one problem though, you see I've spent much time and money getting my gear ready,  getting the appropriate software, taking photography classes, making sure I can hold my ground. Yet I've failed to update my portfolio.  I feel like I've worked backwards, I have everything I need except the proof that I can pull it off.  I have a thing for weddings, not only are they one of the most challenging events to photograph but I think they are one of the most rewarding.  You see, there are no "do overs," if a shot is missed you can't tell the bride to re-walk down the isle. Now going back to my portfolio, I don't feel I have something to show a prospective bride that represents my current style.  The majority of my wedding pictures are pre-training, lol. I was your typical uncle with a nice camera, but now I have evolved into a more skilled photographer. I don't shoot in automatic anymore, straight up "manual" for me.  One of my mentors, Jasmine Star asked us to pick three words that would denote what our photography characteristics would be like.  I wanted my photos to be a representation of who I am as an individual. Therefore, I picked Evocative, Romantic, and Classic. You see these three words define what you will now find in my current photographs. I am a bit old school so I find that a wedding should be classy, a wedding should exude romance, and it should evoke some type of emotion to those who attend it.  That is also what I pretend to capture through my lens.  Let's see what the new year will bring me. I'm looking forward to at least 15 weddings for 2011.
